This series is for any teen who feels as if they are sensitive or have an extra ability in perceiving the world around them. Together we will look at the importance of movement and physical health as it relates to your sensitivity, as well as how to verbalize your experiences without placing judgement on self or others. You will learn the basics of Compassionate Communication, Mindfulness, and Meditation techniques. Each of these topics help give a better understanding of how the mind, body, emotion coherence is working to give you information about the world around you. You will learn how to respect your abilities, as well as set boundaries for others to respect them. We will put this into action during the series to help identify how you are using your sensitivities in your day to day life.

What to bring with you:
Arrive in comfortable clothes ready for movement. Yoga mat, blocks, blankets and pillows will be provided to you. You will also receive a deck of emotion and needs cards that we will be working with in class. Please bring them to each class. You will get a handout for each class. If you like to take notes please bring a pen. Reminder that Full Circle Studio is a no shoe studio. Please bring socks if your feet get cold and remove your shoes in the foyer and place them in the cubbies provided.

What are the topics in this series?

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is especially important for teens because it helps them navigate the challenges of growing up—like stress, anxiety, and social pressure—with greater awareness and calm. By learning to stay present and observe their thoughts and emotions without judgment, teens can improve focus, manage difficult feelings, and build healthier relationships. Practicing mindfulness supports emotional well-being, boosts resilience, and encourages a more balanced, positive outlook during a time of major personal growth all while supporting their unique sensitivities.

Movement

Teens need a space to breathe, stretch, and just be. Yoga gives them that—and so much more. As a mom, I’ve seen firsthand how challenging the teen years can be—so many changes, pressures, and emotions all at once. Yoga gives them a healthy outlet to release stress, connect with their bodies, and build confidence in who they are becoming. It’s amazing how just a few deep breaths can shift their whole mindset. With all the screen time and school stress, their body needs movement. Yoga has helped improve posture, strength, and flexibility in a gentle, supportive way. That’s why I truly believe yoga and movement are essential tools for our teens’ wellbeing.

Meditation

Meditation gives teens a break from the noise. Just a few minutes of stillness helps them manage anxiety, improve focus, and even sleep better. I’ve seen teens become more self-aware and less reactive—able to pause before reacting emotionally. It’s like they have a little more room to breathe and think clearly.

It is a tool they can carry with them anywhere—before a big test, after a rough day, or when they just need to center themselves. In a world that’s constantly demanding their attention, meditation is a quiet place they can return to again and again.

Compassionate Communication

When you are able to communicate from the heart, the use of judgments, either favorable such as compliments or unfavorable such as complaints, will fall to the wayside. You will be able to connect with the person you are speaking with and hear their need behind the words they are sharing. This is the same approach I take with spirits, energy, and even self talk. There will be less conflict as you will become less triggered by a person’s word choice and more interested in what they are trying to convey. As a listener you will be in alignment with fulfilling both your needs and the other’s needs. After all isn’t this why we engage in conversation?
